XXX Testimonial: An Exhibition of Works Dedicated to Sexual Imaginings

Works that approach sexual subjects require courage, context and openness on the part of both the maker and the viewer. The works in XXX Testimonial are often quite personal and definitely material. In varying degrees, the works are erotic in their purpose and intention and often without direct critique. Where there is critique it is presented with questions instead of answers. Objects as tender as living flesh remain thoughtful and generous while provoking a contemplation of the proximity of sex in our psyche. Photographs both describe the intensity of our genital reality while allowing us to imagine the sensorial and emotional possibilities. Paintings that address the pervasiveness of pornography without letting its codes take the upper hand. Films and videos help us to re-imagine our polymorphously perverse cultures and psychologies. Sometimes sinister, sometimes seductive, always sexy.
