27 April 1982 - 15 May 1982
Opening Reception 27 April 1982 8pm

John Clark is a native of England who is presently teaching painting at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Between 1966 and 1968 Clark studied painting at Indiana University. Returning to England in ’68 he painted in various styles including naturalistic painting. After a visit to New York in 1977, where he saw work by such painters as Jim Dine and Philip Guston, he began to paint particular objects in a flattened abstract space.

Before leaving England for a teaching position at NSCAD in ’78, Clark organized a drawing exhibition called “Drawing in Action”, which traveled to several major galleries in Britain.

His more recent exhibits include: Mount St. Vincent University Art Gallery in Halifax, and the 49th Parallel Gallery in New York.

John Clark will be present for the opening of the exhibition.
