Art Now
Mercer Union is pleased to present a new two-person exhibition featuring work by Thérèse Mastroiacovo (Montreal) and Corinne Carlson (Toronto). Mastroiacovo presents a series of pencil drawings of art books with the word “now” in the title, in an attempt to addresses the lifespan of the ‘present.’ A sculpture made from helium balloons spelling out the word NOW is also on display, deflating throughout the course of the exhibition.
Thérèse Mastroiacovo was born in Toronto and now lives and works in Montréal. Her practice has embraced a variety of disciplines such as video, sound, installation, photography, sculpture, drawing, and performance. Thérèse is currently teaching in both Computation Art and Studio Art Departments at Concordia University. She is presently on the Boards of Optica Gallery, a centre for contemporary art, and Kore, an ensemble for experimental and contemporary music.
Please join us for an intimate conversation between Martin Arnold and Thérèse Mastroiacovo at 7:00pm on Friday April 20th, followed by the opening reception at 8:00. Both artists will be in attendance.
