Steps/Mesures | Katinka Bock

Steps/Mesures is a short-term residency program presented in partnership with the Institut Français and the Consulate General of France in Toronto.  This program invites artists and curators living in France for a series of short-term residencies in Toronto between Winter 2015 and Winter 2016 to forge conversation between cultural ecologies. The fourth guest of the series will be Paris and Berlin based artist Katinka Bock.

Katinka Bock | Works and Words: Tomorrow’s sculpture

Katinka Bock (b. Frankfurt/Main 1976) creates sculptures and installations that explore site, origin, material and process. Recent solo exhibitions include: Kunstmuseum Luzern, Switzerland (2016); Zarba Lonsa, Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers, France (2015); Nebenwege, Kiosk, Gent (2014) and A and I, Henry Art Gallery, Seattle (2015). Her work has been included in numerous group exhibitions including; Palazzo Strozzi, Florence; Ostende, Belgium; Kiosk, Belgium; Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht and Masion Rouge, Paris (all 2015); The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Wallspace Gallery, New York;  Contemporary Arts Centre, Vilnius; Marrakech Biennale 5, Morocco (all 2014). She has participated in residencies at the Residency at Villa Medicis, Rome (2012/13); Dorothea von Stetten Kunstpreis, Bonn and Prix Ricard, Paris (both 2012). Bock is represented by Galerie Jocelyn Wolff Paris and Meyer Riegger Berlin/Karlsruhe. Bock will present a solo exhibition at Mercer Union in 2017.
