Presented by the Art Gallery of Ontario
Montreal artist and filmmaker Maria Sheriff will give an artist talk on her project for the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Present Tense Contemporary Project Series, in which she combines sculptural form with the projected image in a new installation built from twisted metal pieces she salvaged from a city fire. Sheriff traced the suspended steel beams with dull argon lights and redoubled their odd fugitive presence by filming the entire work, an evocation of the limits of the material. Her exhibition is on view in the Salah Bachir Gallery, Level 2 at the Art Gallery of Ontario from October 29, 2003 – January 11, 2004. A screening of 1200 square feet of sky (2003) a film by Maria Sheriff and Danielle Hébert, will be held Saturday November 8th at 3:00pm at LIFT, 27 Hannah Avenue, Suite 301.
