Benjamin Ong is a Toronto-based musician and DJ, born in Brunei Darussalam and raised in western Canada and the Middle East. While studying Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo, he was a member of several bands, most notably Bocce who released 3 full length albums and toured throughout Canada playing several music festivals including Pop Montreal, Hillside Inside, LOLA, Canada Music Week, Kazoo, and Track and Field. As a DJ, Ong hosted several local music focused radio programs on the University of Waterloo’s 100.3 CKMS and was a resident DJ for the Global Warming dance party at Waterloo’s Starlight Social Club for over a decade. While Ong has mostly switched his focus towards his Engineering practice, his debut solo album under the name Grandmother Sago entitled Let’s Talk About Snakes is scheduled for independent release in the Fall of 2018.
