Blocks Recording Club Summer Release Party!

Featuring

Brian Joseph Davis and Katie Stelmanis

Friday, August 3, 9PM, FREE

Please join the Blocks Recording Club to celebrate the release of
Brian Joseph Davis’ “The Definitive Host.”

The Definitive Host collects the work of sound artist Brian Joseph Davis
into one, oversized package, including: Ten Banned Albums Burned, Then
Played(newly remixed here). As well, the Definitive Host kicks off with
a new work titled Eula. It’s a choral piece with lyrics adapted from
Sony/BMG’s notorious End User License Agreement. His work has been
called “[An] info-blizzard. Frail, but tenacious” by Pitchfork and
“Oddly haunting” by Salon.com.

Davis will do a short DJ set followed by a live performance of Greatest
Hit, playing all the tracks of a greatest hit album simultaneously using
12 CD players with the help of audience members.

Also performing a set will be Katie Stelmanis (who’s vocals appear in the Eula Choir). Formerly of Galaxy, Stelmanis’ intimidatingly powerful voice and piano playing feature large in her latest solo work. With songs that turn from achingly raw and fragile to great walls of lush noise, Stelmanis is the answer to the question, “What if a young Elton John traveled through time and collaborated with Michael Gira?”
