14 November 1991 - 14 December 1991
Opening Reception 14 November 1991 8pm
Jennie White’s paintings of a deforested landscape endeavor to effect language, to be sensual objects articulating emotions and thoughs. Yet there is no hand-wringing angst to these panoramas, rather a sort of sly stillness, or a stubborn patience that may or may not be justified. By merging elemental images with intensely tactile planes, White strives for the emergence of symbols with extreme physical impact which entice the viewer into direct contact with the work.
Born in Windsor, Ontario, Jennie White resides and works in London, Ontario. Her work is currently touring nationally in the London Life Young Contemporaries Exhibition under the auspices of the London Regional Art Gallery. This is White’s first solo exhibition in Toronto.
